Position Details:
Summary of Duties:
The Research Technologist 1 will assist in the design and conduction of research projects, protocols, and experiments to support scientific investigations for Dr. Jingru Sun (the PI) on multiple projects that range from studying neuro-immune interactions using a range of genetic, genomic, and neurobiological techniques.
Work performed includes conducting experiments; analyzing and documenting research data; assisting with laboratory operations and maintenance; participating in lab activities such as lab meetings and discussions; and performing related duties as required by the PI.
This is a fixed term appointment, and is expected to end one (1) year from date of hire. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension to complete the project and if funding is available.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• 75% Laboratory Research
• 20% Laboratory Operations
• 5% Other
Required Qualifications:
Two (2) years experience as a laboratory technician, research aide, OR equivalent; OR a Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field of science OR technology; OR equivalent education/experience.
Additional Requirements:
• Strong communication skills.
• High motivation and great work ethics.
• Can be trained to work independently and in a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in biology or related field, such as immunology, neuroscience, microbiology, genetics
• Research experience in gene cloning, fluorescence microscope imaging, etc.
• Prior experience in Caenorhabditis elegans research.

Monthly Salary: $3,096 to $4,093 | Range #35 | Steps A-M | Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28. Step M is typically a longevity step.
