Actalent Polysomnographic Technologist in Liberty, Missouri

Registered Polysomnographic Technologist - Paying up to $36/hr.

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Polysomnographic Technologist to join our 4-bed sleep lab, accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). The ideal candidate will be responsible for administering therapy and treatments, performing sleep apnea studies and scoring, conducting EKGs, and supporting Neurology with EEGs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer therapy and treatments for sleep disorders.

  • Perform and score sleep apnea studies.

  • Conduct EKGs and administer gases as needed.

  • Teach patients about sleep disorders and treatments.

  • Document patient care and adhere to established protocols.

  • Support Neurology with EEGs, including weekend call coverage (7 AM - 7 PM, Saturday and Sunday).

  • Assist with basic housekeeping duties such as mask cleaning, room preparation, and maintenance of documentation.

  • Perform “on the fly” scoring of sleep studies and Home Sleep Test (HST) scoring and setups periodically.

  • Work independently and make informed decisions about patient care.

  • Collaborate with physicians and be open to suggestions.

  • Ensure criteria for patient testing are met and maintained.

  • Cross-train to the Neurology team for limited call coverage.

Qualifications:

  • Required Experience: Recent experience in a sleep lab, including patient hook-up, performing full sleep studies with and without CPAP/BiPAP, and scoring of sleep studies.

  • Required Licensure/Certification/Registration: Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT); Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

  • Preferred Education/Training: Graduate of an accredited Respiratory school, sleep lab/polysomnography program, or neurodiagnostic training.

Additional Information:

  • Our hospital currently uses Sunrise Clinical EMR, with plans to transition to a new system in the future.

  • The sleep technologist will primarily work within the NATUS sleep testing system, with occasional data entry into the patient EMR for information purposes.

  • We do not handle pediatric patients, except for older adolescents at the physician’s discretion.

  • Patient load follows accreditation guidelines, with a maximum ratio of 2 patients per technician.
