Title:
3D CAD Drafting Technician
KBR is seeking an on-call CAD Drafting Technician in Lexington Park, MD.
Position Description:
Produces 3D models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks software for design documentation of item form, fit, and function based on ASME Y14, MIL-STD-31000 and IEEE 15288.2 standards
Works closely with design originators, preparing drawings or 3D CAD models of unusual, complex, or original designs that require a high degree of precision
Occasionally performs unusually difficult assignments requiring considerable initiative, resourcefulness, and drafting expertise, such as Model Based Definition (MBD)
Assures that anticipated problems in manufacture, assembly, installation, and operation are resolved by the drawing produced and exercises independent judgment in selecting and interpreting data based on knowledge of the design intent
Although working primarily as a drafter, occasionally requires interpretation of general designs prepared by others to complete minor details
May provide advice and guidance to lower-level drafters or serve as coordinator and planner for large and complex drafting projects.
Ability to rely on experience and applies sound judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Be involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and/or repair of mechanical products
Work under general supervision; typically reports to a lead, supervisor, or manager
Required Experience, & Skills:
Experience using modern 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) software tools to generate 3D part and assembly solid models and 2D and 3D drawings
Experience with mechanical and electrical wiring design drafting principles
Proficient with:
Microsoft Office software products (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Teams, etc.)
SolidWorks CAD software and PDM Vault
AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Electrical
Proven understanding of Configuration Management Systems using Product Data Management (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
Desired Experience, & Skills:
SolidWorks Certifications are preferred
Drafting advanced engineering and technical documents
Familiarity with NAVAIR and NAWCAD technical drawings and documentation
Review and check designs, drawings, and documents for CAD Best Practices and acceptability
Knowledge of:
ANSI/ASME Y14 series specifications for technical drawings and Model Based Definition (MBD)
MIL-STD-31000 standard for technical data packages
IEEE Standard 15288.2 electrical wiring drawings
JEDMICS Specifications
Welding Standards (AWS D1.1, A2.4, NASA-STD-5004)
Other 3D CAD packages besides SolidWorks (CREO, ProE Catia, etc.)
Required Education:
- High school diploma and 2 years of professional experience performing Computer Aided Design (CAD) and drafting in an applicable technical engineering discipline, such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering.
Contract Requirements will prevail.
Security Clearance Requirement: Secret OR able to obtain and maintain Secret security clearance.
