Work Unit: * The Northeastern Land Office - Lewistown Unit represents the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation within Chouteau, Hill, Blaine, Petroleum, Fergus, Judith Basin, Wheatland and Golden Valley counties, Montana. The Lewistown Unit Office conducts field activities for the Forestry and Trust Lands Division and is responsible for the day-today operations by the Department within this specific area. *Job Overview: * The Lewistown Unit Manager has supervisory, managerial authority and responsibility for all assigned departmental programs and field activities, property and personnel within its geographic region. *Essential Functions (Major Duties or Responsibilities): These job functions are the essential duties of the position and are not all-inclusive of all the duties that may be assigned to the incumbent. * Lewistown Unit Administration:The Lewistown Unit Manager administers activities of all Forestry and Trust Land Division programs within the Lewistown Unit (LU) along established goals, policies and procedures to accomplish objectives and tasks using sound knowledge of natural resources management, operation manuals, and related federal and state laws. Performs personnel supervision and budget management for the LU. Assures a safe working environment for LU personnel. Assures the management of trust land to produce optimum revenue for the trust beneficiaries while protecting the trust resources. Assures subordinates are consistently and uniformly addressing issues within the programs administered within the Unit. Investigates violations of terms of land use agreements and takes enforcement action. Acts as the principal MEPA decision maker for the LU. Participates as a Department representative meeting with other agencies (Federal, State, and County), industries and NGO’s. Assures USDA farm program compliance. Acts as the Line Officer for fires within the Unit and may serve as a line officer or a line officer representative for other work unit/areas. Works with the Area Fire Program Manager to support the County Cooperative fire program. Supervises the billing, reception and transfer of revenue. Assures the maintenance of LU records. * Agriculture, Grazing, Minerals and Real Estate Management: *Conducts agricultural and grazing lease field evaluation and implements corrective action where needed. Conducts mineral development permitting and inspection. Conducts land sales, exchanges and right of way management. Manages recreational use of LU trust lands. Conducts commercial lease administration. If you are interested in a complete job description please contact HR at Stacey.Gabrio@mt.gov.* Required Education and Experience: * Bachelor's degree in a field of natural resource management, forestry, wildlife biology, fire management, recreation management, range science or directly related with four years of related natural resource management experience that includes program management and supervisory responsibilities. A Master’s degree in the above can be substituted to include 3 years of related experience in areas listed. Completion of DNRC Line Officer training within one year of employment. The incumbent must be experienced in land management including agriculture, grazing and mineral lease administration. The incumbent must be physical able to perform fire line officer duties. This position must be able to complete field work including the ability to work independently in rough terrain in all weather conditions. This position must be able to work administratively within a wildfire environment. *SPECIAL INFORMATION: *Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States. A valid driver's license is required with less than 12 conviction points in the most recent completed 36 months. *ELIGIBILITY TO WORK: In accordance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act, the person selected must produce within three days of hire documents that show authorization to work in the United States.
