Central Maine Medical Center Cardiovascular Radiological Technologist in Lewiston, Maine

Position Summary: The Radiological Technologist performs a variety of imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols. Functions as the first line interface with customers in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs. Provides direct and indirect supervision of Radiologic Technology students. Participates in CQI activities. Participates in on call, weekend and holiday schedules.Essential Duties:1. Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients.2. Responsible for safe handling of radiographic equipment.3. Instructs and prepares patients for roentgenographic and/or fluoroscopic examinations.4. Selects appropriate equipment to use for procedure.5. Determines most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly.6. Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure - makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.7. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.8. Operates mobile fluoroscopy equipment during special radiographic examinations requiring special equipment and procedures such as: orthopedic and spine procedures in surgery.9. Programs portable or stationary x-ray machines and makes radiograms for a variety of examinations.10. Processes radiographic image,11. Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures.12. Assists in maintaining records and reports.13. Enters data via a computer terminal.14. Assists in training of students and ancillary personnel.15. Takes x-ray call according to a weekly schedule. Works weekends and/or holidays.16. Interacts professionally with patient, family and staff.17. Completes all work competently and efficiently by the end of the shift.18. Demonstrates knowledge of local fire and safety regulations.19. Knowledgeable of hospital policies and the functions of the other departments.20. Cooperates with the department’s performance improvement initiatives and compiles and maintains quality assurance information as requested.21. Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric and general population.22. Customer Service: Interacts with all individuals in a consistent manner, providing attention, support, and assistance to foster an environment of exceptional personal service.Education and Experience:1. High School graduate.2. Prefer BS or MS3. Five year of radiologic/imaging experience.4. Prefer specific experience and training in a diagnostic supervisory role.5. Graduation from an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology.6. Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.7. ARRT certification.8. Licensed by the state of Maine to practice and administer radiation.9. Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification required. Renewal due within one month of expiration.10. Knowledge and understanding of general anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:1.
