MassHire Department of Career Services (MDCS) oversees the Commonwealth\'s network of One-Stop Career Centers, that assist businesses in finding qualified workers and providing job seekers with career guidance, as well as referral to jobs and training. MDCS strengthens the Career Center system through continuous improvement processes, and innovative business practices that maximize resources, foster partnerships, and engage employers to ensure a skilled, motivated, and adaptable workforce capable of meeting the emerging labor market needs of the Commonwealth, now and in the future. The Employment Counselor will work as part of a team to achieve the MassHire North Central Career Center goals. The incumbent will evaluate employment and/or training services applicants with substantial and/or significant barriers to employment to determine eligibility for and appropriateness of various employment and/or training program services; review and analyze client information through records, tests, interviews and observations to determine appropriateness for training; advise clients on such matters as developing employment plans, job search methods, techniques, processes and career planning; conduct and review labor market information to set realistic expectations for job searching and potential training needs; conduct counseling interviews; confer with agency staff and partner organizations to determine appropriateness of referrals; describe, explain, or answer inquiries concerning eligibility, procedures and benefits related to agency programs; maintain liaison with public and private organizations and service providers; conduct job searching and informational workshops and performs related duties as required. All services will be provided either in person or via a virtual platform. Preferred Qualifications: Ability to interpret the results of tests used to determine individual interests, aptitudes, skills, and occupational preferences. Ability to establish rapport with persons from different cultural and/or economic backgrounds. Ability to motivate clients. Ability to gather individual information through questioning and observing individuals. Ability to interact with people who are under physical and/or emotional stress. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written expression. Bilingual preferred IN THE CASE OF A PROMOTIONAL OPPORTUNITY, THE SALARY PROVISIONS OF THE APPLICABLE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT WILL BE UTILIZED FOR PLACEMENT WITHIN THE SALARY RANGE.
