Argonne National Laboratory Janitor Group Leader in Lemont, Illinois
Under the supervision of the foreman, acts as working leader to janitors engaged in activities such as:
Sweeping, dust mopping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, sealing, waxing, and buffing floors.
Picks up and disposes of waste paper and trash and removes trash.
Spot-washes walls and washes and sanitizes washroom facilities and refills washroom dispensers.
Washes and cleans windows, sills, glass partitions, mirrors, lighting fixtures, ashtrays, and push plates, bottoms of doors and stairways.
Operates and cleans equipment such as scrubbing machines, buffers, polishers, and pickup machines.
Cleans and washes the canteen and lunchrooms and their furniture.
Moves and replaces furniture and other objects to original locations as required for the cleaning of all rooms.
Changes light bulbs and works from ladders as necessary to clean.
Sweeps and shovels dirt and snow from building steps, platforms, and sidewalks.
May drive vehicle to transport employees, equipment and materials.
Relay inventory/supply/equipment needs between the custodial staff and their foreman
Gives direction to the custodial staff in cleaning, sanitation and floor care
Meet with foreman to discuss upcoming/ongoing work assignments
Assist foreman in coordinating work assignments
Acts as a liaison to Foreman for concerns from occupants/building managers/customers/other staff members.
Lead, oversee, demonstrate and carry out all custodial duties in the safe and correct way.
May perform foreman duties on an as needed/fill-in basis
A good demonstrated work record.
Complies with all Laboratory and Division ESH policies, work rules, and safe work practices.
A year of custodial experience preferred.
Basic proficiency in English language to communicate operational information with co-workers and customers and to safely perform work.
