Argonne National Laboratory Business Intelligence Architect in Lemont, Illinois
We invite you to apply for this position within the Financial Management and Procurement Services organization at Argonne National Laboratory. The BI Architect will be responsible for designing and managing the data architecture of the laboratory's financial and procurement data systems, ensuring seamless integration of data from financial and procurement systems to the enterprise data warehouse. This role requires close collaboration with stakeholders, database administrators, and IT teams to develop scalable, efficient solutions that support advanced reporting and analytics. The BI Architect will lead the development of data models and cloud-based integrations while maintaining a focus on data accuracy, performance, and security. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, innovation, and leadership, working both independently and with management to define the BI strategy and roadmap, while addressing complex data challenges.
Responsibilities:
Design and oversee the architecture of business intelligence and data integration solutions across cloud and on-premises systems.
Develop and implement scalable data models and data warehouses to support complex reporting and analytics needs.
Ensure data accuracy, optimal performance, and timely delivery across a wide range of reporting solutions.
Collaborate with stakeholders, database administrators, and IT teams to define and implement powerful finance and procurement reporting solutions across the laboratory.
Create and manage cloud integrations to ensure seamless data flow between finance, procurement, and other business systems to the Enterprise Datawarehouse.
Develop and maintain complex dashboards and reporting solutions using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
Help management develop and enforce data governance practices, ensuring compliance with security and data quality standards.
Help management develop the BI strategy and reporting roadmap.
Provide leadership and guidance to the BI teams, ensuring best practices in data architecture and reporting.
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science or related field.
8+ years’ experience in data architecture and business intelligence.
Expertise in designing and implementing data integration solutions across cloud platforms and on-premises systems.
Proficiency in data modeling (tabular, multidimensional) and building data warehouses, data lakes, or similar infrastructures.
Knowledge of ETL processes and the ability to guide database administrators on optimizing data pipelines.
Proficiency in SQL and experience with database management systems like SQL Server, Oracle, or similar.
Professional experience BI tools like Power BI, or Tableau, including dashboard and report development.
Ability to lead and collaborate across teams with stakeholders, IT, and finance departments to deliver scalable BI solutions.
Exceptional problem-solving skills and creativity in designing complex reporting solutions.
Experience developing BI roadmaps and long-term data strategies to meet evolving business needs.
Strong communication skills to liaise effectively between technical and non-technical teams, including senior and executive management.
