IBM Scala Developer in LEICESTER, United Kingdom

Your role and responsibilities

This role is to join an emerging team and programme of works that will define test and prove a process for delivery of centrally controlled and de-centrally developed set of digital capabilities that will transform and enhance enterprise systems and ultimately improve government services.

Teams follow

  • Cloud native architecture and development techniques and tooling will be used by all teams.

Appropriate IBM Services methodology artefacts processes and experiences will be adapted and leveraged to drive high-quality delivery and achieve targeted business outcomes.

The Developer will be part of the scrum team and responsible for

  • Completing development tasks on project specific backlogs.

  • Be accountable for writing code that meets pre-defined coding standards and guidelines.

  • Write, adapt, maintain and support code; as well as look to continually improve the service with new tools and techniques.

  • Development and implemention of applications using Scala.

  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams to design develop and test applications that meet business requirements.

  • Follow best practices in code quality testing and deployment throughout the development lifecycle.

  • Contribute to decision-making and improvement ideas.

  • Communicate effectively with cross functional team translating technical concepts into clear and understandable language.

  • Actively participate in customer craft communities sharing IBM best practices and thought leadership.

You’ll have the opportunity to work with the latest technologies, ensuring the applications delivered are high performing, highly available, responsive, and maintainable.

Required technical and professional expertise

  • 2-5 years development experience

  • Systems administration experience for SCALA

  • J2EE applications JBoss Jenkins Ansible Git Agile Scrum Experience.

  • Technologies: Java Spring Framework Web Services JMS MDB Junit JIRA

  • A passion for solving technical problems and advising on the technical feasibility of designs.
