Job Title: Cybersecurity Analyst I - Vulnerability Assessment Analyst

Location: Fort Johnson

Clearance Level Required: Secret; will process for T5 investigation

Certification Required: DOD 8140 compliant (IAT Level II or III, IAM Level I, or CSSP certifications) - CEH required at a minimum.

Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cybersecurity Analyst I - Vulnerability Assessment Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting vulnerability assessments, identifying security weaknesses, and working with cross-functional teams to remediate vulnerabilities. This role involves hands-on technical work, including the use of scanning tools, analysis of security risks, and documentation of findings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Vulnerability Assessments: Conduct routine vulnerability assessments using approved scanning tools, identifying security weaknesses across various systems and networks.

  • Analysis: Analyze the results of vulnerability scans, correlating findings with system configurations and threat intelligence to assess the risk and potential impact.

  • Reporting: Prepare detailed reports on identified vulnerabilities, providing actionable recommendations to mitigate risks.

  • Remediation Support: Work with system owners and IT teams to prioritize and remediate vulnerabilities, tracking progress and ensuring timely resolution.

  • Compliance: Ensure that vulnerability assessments and related activities are conducted in compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and DOD 8140 requirements.

  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and best practices, contributing to the ongoing improvement of security processes and procedures.

  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other cybersecurity professionals and stakeholders to enhance the overall security posture of the organization.

    Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered.

  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on vulnerability assessment, penetration testing, or a related area.

  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Nessus, Qualys, OpenVAS) and understanding of common vulnerabilities (e.g., CVEs, OWASP Top 10).

  • Certifications: Must be DOD 8140 compliant, holding at least one relevant certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP, or equivalent).

  • Security Clearance: Active Secret clearance is required - must be T5 eligible.

  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Certifications: Additional cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or advanced penetration testing certifications.

  • Hands-On Experience: Experience with network security, incident response, or threat intelligence is a plus.

  • Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to solve complex security problems with innovative solutions.
