Native American Technology Corporation (NATECH) is seeking a Project Manager to support the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in the planning and implementation of a high-profile modernization project which will transform the inside of the museum to match the many advances in aviation and space exploration industries. The Museum is embarking on transformation of the public presentation of its peerless collection and world class scholarship - new and reinterpreted exhibitions and refreshed versions of gallery favorites, redesigned building layout, integration of digital engagement as a seamless experience, and incorporation of both onsite STEM-focused programming and interactive STEM broadcasts.

The PM will report to the Exhibits Division at the National Air and Space Museum (NASM). The PM is responsible for providing services in support of assigned projects by the Program Manager of the Exhibits Division, participating with and assisting the in the overall planning and development of exhibitions in the Exhibits Division and other projects as assigned. At this level the PM manages specific projects: directs the work performed, assuring that it is successful, and evaluates the project making adjustments as required. This position has continuous project management responsibilities over various NASM exhibits.

This position will be a hybrid work scheduling working at least 2 days on site and the remaining days remote.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Monitor the design and production of exhibitions, many of which are large and complex, displaying many valuable artifacts. Ensures sequencing and coordination to ensure exhibitions open on time based on the agreed to schedule.
  • Planning, organizing, and managing portions of Transformation projects as assigned.
  • Coordinate and monitor schedules and material requirements for the design and production of the assigned exhibits projects.
  • Recommend changes and solve problems to facilitate production and conform to policy guidelines.
  • Works with the Program Manager on site to organize and develop short- and long-range planning of individual exhibit schedules. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor Degree and 2 years Project Management experience.
  • Experience managing a wide variety of project stakeholders and unique requirements.
  • Effective communication with all levels of management.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong project management skills (schedule tracking, risk management, communications, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate successfully with diverse groups of people, often having conflicting goals and priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) desired
  • Experience working with construction projects or in a museum environment a bonus
