WHAT YOU'LL DO

Will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing Cracker Barrel’s network systems. This role involves ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of our network infrastructure, troubleshooting network issues, and optimizing network performance.

  • Network Design and Implementation

  • Design and plan network infrastructure to meet organizational needs.

  • Implement network solutions including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless systems.

  • Network Maintenance and Monitoring

  • Monitor network performance and ensure optimal operation.

  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including service packs, patches, and security configurations

  • Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution

  • Diagnose and resolve network issues, including connectivity problems and performance bottlenecks.

  • Provide technical support for network-related issues.

  • Security Management

  • Implement and manage network security measures to protect against cyber threats.

  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.

  • Configuration Management

  • Configure network devices and services, such as VLANs, VPNs, and QoS.

  • Maintain accurate records of network configurations and changes.

  • Documentation and Reporting

  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of network architecture, configurations, and procedures.

  • Generate reports on network performance, incidents, and security status.

  • Capacity Planning and Optimization

  • Monitor network usage and plan for future capacity needs.

  • Optimize network performance through tuning and upgrades.

  • Collaboration and Coordination

  • Work closely with other IT team members and departments to ensure seamless network integration.

  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for network-related services and support.

  • Disaster Recovery and Backup

  • Develop and implement network disaster recovery plans.

  • Ensure network data is backed up and can be restored in case of failure.

  • Compliance and Policy Enforcement

  • Ensure network infrastructure complies with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Enforce network usage policies and procedures.

  • Training and Support

  • Provide training and support to IT staff and end-users on network-related topics.

  • Research and Development:

  • Stay updated with the latest networking technologies and trends and recommend improvements.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Deep understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and subnetting.

  • Knowledge of network protocols and standards (e.g., Ethernet, MPLS, BGP, OSPF).

  • Ability to design scalable and efficient network architectures.

  • Experience with network topology design and implementation.

  • Familiarity with network hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.

  • Experience with hardware configuration and troubleshooting.

  • Knowledge of network security principles and best practices.

  • Ability to implement and manage security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.

  • Proficiency with network monitoring tools (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds, Nagios).

  • Skills in performance tuning and optimization.

  • Ability to write scripts for network automation using languages like Python, Perl, or Bash.

  • Familiarity with automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Ansible, Puppet).

  • Understanding of wireless networking standards (e.g., Wi-Fi, Bluetooth).

  • Experience with wireless network design and troubleshooting.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.

  • Skills in handling multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Ability to work well with other IT team members and departments.

  • Willingness to share knowledge and assist colleagues.

  • Skills in planning and executing network projects.

  • Ability to manage resources and timelines effectively.

  • Security Awareness.

  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).

  • Ability to ensure network infrastructure complies with organizational policies and regulations.

  • Skills in identifying and responding to security incidents.

  • Ability to conduct security audits and vulnerability assessments.

  • Willingness to stay updated with the latest networking technologies and trends.

  • Ability to quickly learn new software and tools.

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing technologies and organizational needs.

  • Ability to handle unexpected issues and changes in priorities.
