Principal Scientist

Psychiatry Research

The Principal Scientist independently leads a lab, research program, or center with a track record of sustained, independent, and collaborative extramural funding.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a leader of a lab, research program, or center.

  • Must have an independent research portfolio.

  • Writes grants and maintains scholarly productivity, as evidenced by authorship and major contributions of substantive and original peer-reviewed work.

  • Acts as Principal Investigator.

  • Responsible or accountable for multiple grants and research projects.

  • Defines the scope and selection of research area(s) for investigation through conceptually related studies or a series of projects of lesser scope.

  • Directs the preparation of study protocols, statistical analysis and study reports and produces scientific content for clinical and regulatory documentation.

  • Invited speaker/presenter at conferences, symposia and mentors and provides guidance to collaborators, trainees, and lower level researchers.

  • Supervises students, trainees (e.g., residents, research assistants) and lower level scientists.

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • PhD or MD in an applicable field required.

  • Faculty appointment anticipated at the Associate Professor level or higher
