Komatsu supports a myriad of markets, including housing, infrastructure, water, pipeline, minerals, automobile, aerospace, electronics and medical, through its many brands and subsidiaries, includingTimberPro, Joy, P&H, Montabert, Modular Mining Systems, Hensley Industries, NTC, and Gigaphoton.Job Overview- Identifies areas of self-development and plays an active role in personal growth.- Seeks out, accepts and applies feedback and coaching.- Formally documents objectives and performance results using the Komatsu GPS System within required time frames.Key Job Responsibilities- Develop and oversee initiatives to reduce the cost of poor quality defined as the summation of scrap, rework, and warranty as a percentage of total sales.- Partner with manufacturing operations and technical services to decrease lead times and cost while simultaneously increasing quality, customer satisfaction, and brand credibility.- Participate in the planning, development, and implementation of quality initiatives in accordance with current operating procedures.- Initiate, recommend, and manage process improvement changes with various departments.- Increase quality by building process control and standardization into product planning, development, and manufacturing.- Partner with performance leader and human resources to support learning and development activities pertaining to individual, departmental the location needs.- Monitor the cost of poor quality on a monthly basis. Complete a comparison analysis to plan and report on variances.- Manage and monitor the quality system in assigned areas; oversee quality functions and create supporting quality documentation.- Develop, create, revise, and maintain appropriate quality documentation including work instructions and inspection plans to support manufacturing and assembly of conforming material; create documents to serve as objective evidence of completed work.- Execute internal process, workstation, and safety audits; work with inspectors to increase the strength of the quality system on the floor.- Complete 3 Legged - 5 Why investigations for all non-conformance issues over 10K. Work cross-functionally to institute containment actions, short-term and long-term resolutions that prevent reoccurrence.- Serve as the liaison between quality and operations management; advise and act as subject matter expert to manufacturing leaders and support staff.Additional Information- Vast understanding of the inner workings of AC & DC powered motors (High and Low Voltages).- Working knowledge of manufacturing operations such as Machining, Welding, Inspection, and Electrical Testing.- Develop procedures to assure the integrity of components & assemblies of our products.- Reducing Total Cost of Quality through an emphasis on preventive quality control techniques.- Collect and analyze defect data and implement corrective measures (Electrical, Welding, Assembly, Machining, Inspection, etc.).- Conduct investigations, document findings and report causes of quality defects monthly.- Provide technical support to Motor Shop Department.- Quality Engineering technical support and guidance is provided to all levels of the location and suppliers.- Support regional sites by assuming the role of site Quality Personnel during their absence.- Conduct Audits (Product Audits, Process Audits, & Quality Management Audits) as required.- Support disassembly and failure analysis for warranty returns.- Constant inner actions with people in various roles. For example, but not limited to Upper Management, Plant Personnel, Engineers, Purchasers, Sales, Service, Suppliers, and our Customers.Qualifications/Requirements- Clear and thorough understanding of Electrical Motors (i.e. How they are built, how they function, how to test them to ensure they are built correctly).- 2-3 years of Process Quality/Quality Engineering experience is required.- Ability to direct personal and professional growth through continued education and certifications is required.- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Engineering, Material Science, Operations or another associated field is preferred, OR Associate degree with 7+ years' experience in motors.- ASQ Quality Certification is preferred.- Lean/Six Sigma Certification is preferredKomatsu is an Equal Opportunity Workplace and an Affirmative Action Employer.
