LEANDER IND SCHOOL DISTRICT Elementary Instructional Assistant, Pre-K in LEANDER, Texas
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Provide instructional assistance to student under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing of classroom activities. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES oInstructional Support oProvide instruction to students under the direction of teacher; work with individual students orsmall groups. oAssist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays. oAssist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments. oHelp maintain a neat and orderly classroom. oHelp with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment. oHelp teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports. oProvide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers. oStudent Management oHelp supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom. This includeslunchroom, bus, and playground duty. oMake teacher aware of special needs or problems of individual students. oOther oParticipate in staff development training programs to improve job performance. oParticipate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned. oFollow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES oNone. QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES Education/Certification/Experience: High School diploma or GED required. Associates degree preferred, or two years of study at an institution of higher learning *Required by Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) for aides who are providing instructional support in Title I, Part A program.
Valid Texas Educational Aide certificate, obtainable through GISD upon hire. Some experience working with children. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: o Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics o Ability to work well with children o Ability to communicate effectively Mental/Physical/Environmental Demands: o Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment o Moderate standing; occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, and stooping o Moderate walking o Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds) o Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise o Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
