Our Northeast Earth & Environment Team is seeking a Senior Summer 2023 Environmental Scientist (Natural Resources) Intern to work out of our Morristown, NJ and/or Lawrenceville, NJ offices.
Respond to complex issues for natural environments in a context of climate change by combining design and scientific knowledge to produce the best projects for our clients.
Collect data and gather information and documents.
Assist with wetland delineation/restoration and ecology studies, assist with the design of ecosystem restoration projects, develop environmental resource maps.
Organize and modify geospatial data and create maps using ArcGIS.
Provide support for project tracking and organization to our project management staff.
Provide support for project plan development, research, technical calculations, cost estimating, permit applications, and technical report writing.
Perform field visits and site reconnaissance as dictated by project requirements.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Complete training on assigned tasks.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are
Actively enrolled in an accredited Natural Resources, Environmental Science, or related Masters or PhD program.
Demonstrated interest in Environmental Science and Natural Resources, or related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
Ability to work as a team player and take direction.
Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products.
Comfortable presenting ideas, projects and solutions to clients and executives in a polished, professional manner.
Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
Ability to work independently under minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
Advanced proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
Experience with ArcGIS, Trimble GPS software, Scuba or NJ Boat Captain License.
Coursework in ecology, geology, biology, natural sciences or equivalent.
Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus.
