Job Description:

DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Systems Engineer shall be responsible for participating in Information Assurance (IA) system, hardware, and software design activities with focus on leading evaluation of requirements generation, allocation and tracking throughout the development cycle to ensure supportability for security certification. The Senior Systems Engineer shall also be responsible for performing implementation and technology studies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides identification and fixing of problems within existing systems, design, and implementation of new systems and enhancement of existing systems.

  • Participate in analysis, design, and new construction of next generation IT systems.

  • Assist in architecture expansion, planning, and process engineering for physical and virtual Microsoft, Linux, and Citrix, workstation environments.

  • Create and update software engineering documentation.

  • Desktop security auditing, implementing, and utilizing usage trends, license management and trends, and application virtualization and provisioning configurations.

  • Manage issues and troubleshooting tickets.

  • Responsible for understanding the needs of the customers and the realities of commercially available IT products, creating requirements that will allow implementation by the development team.

  • Analyze Enterprise Desktop and application end user requirements to generate system requirements.

  • Log in to distribution console servers to check on the cluster, servers, and clients. 

  • Update SSPs for each new client. 

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Experience as a system engineer on virtual desktop solutions

  • Experience displaying skill areas including operating systems (Windows, UNIX, LINUX), Virtual Desktops (Citrix, VMWare), User Management and Permissions, (Active Directory, Centrify)

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member solve difficult enterprise desktop and application services problems.

  • Familiarity with ITIL, SEI/CMM desirable

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Must have a solid technical background with a focus on virtual desktop solutions.

  • Must have one of the following DoD approved certifications to meet the category/level IAT-2 (DoD 8570) requirement for this position: Security+, GSEC, SSCP, CCNA-Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), CASP, GCIH, or GCED.

  • Required Education & Experience: High School/GED (+20) years of relevant experience. AD (+15) years of relevant experience. BA/BD (+10) years of relevant experience. Master's degree (+5) years of relevant experience, or PHD (+3) years of relevant experience.

The likely salary range for this position is $176,929 - $239,375. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
