Applied Physics Laboratory Cybersecurity Engineer in Laurel, Maryland

Position Description Are you searching for meaningful work in developing cyber capabilities that enable the U.S. to shape and prevail against the ever-evolving asymmetric threat? We are seeking a motivated and creative technical professional with skills in analysis and evaluation of communications and weapon use control systems supporting strategic and national command and control missions in peacetime and stressed (wartime) scenarios. As a Cybersecurity Engineer, you will... * Conduct gap analysis of operational requirements. Analyze and evaluate current and future communication and use control systems to identify requirements to address capability, safety, or security gaps. Provide detailed, prioritized recommendations to enhance system mission performance. * Perform cyber risk assessments on NC2/NC3 systems, platforms, and mission spaces. Conduct research, assess vulnerabilities, identify findings, mitigation strategies, and formulate results. * Apply sound systems engineering and cybersecurity principles to develop modern technical solutions, to include but not limited to, secure mobile solutions on behalf of various military and intelligence community sponsors in support of Department of Defense JCIDS acquisition process. * Document analysis results in formal reports, brief results to various military commands. ## Qualifications You meet the minimum qualifications for this position if you have: * M.S. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields. * Five or more years of experience designing, developing and maintaining military and/or tactical systems with complex computational and processing dependencies. * Demonstrated ability to design defensive cyber solutions that inhibit or mitigate operational impact from cyber-attack given constraints of operations, performance or organization. * Excellent oral and written communication skills. * Proven ability to work in diverse teams as a leader and a contributor. * Proven demonstration as a critical thinker developing solutions to complex problems. * Ability to travel to sponsor sites. * An ability to obtain Interim Top Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain Top Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship. You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you... * Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields. * Seven or more years’ experience with military systems architecture, design, and cybersecurity solutions. * Detailed technical understanding and/or operational/maintenance experience with Combat Systems, Weapons and Stores Systems, C4I, Avionics, HM&E, and/or other related military operational technology, including embedded systems and supporting platform network and computing environments is advantageous. * Demonstrated knowledge of cyber issues surrounding realtime operating systems, software-intensive systems, unmanned systems, military standard bus specifications, and operational mission/domain-specific applications. * Experience with full life cycle system engineering process and/or applied research. * Experience in the design and use of engineering models and tools. * Working knowledge of IO/cyber techniques, modeling/simulation, and evaluation of cyber architectures. * Demonstrated team leadership or project management skills. * Proven demonstration as a critical thinker developing strategy and solutions to solving complex problems. * Active Top Secret clearance.
