Universal Health Services Unit Coordinator/ Unit Secretary (12 hr shift Every Other Weekend) in LAS CRUCES, New Mexico

POSITION SUMMARY: The unit clerk/secretary/Coordinators the facility manages the clerical functions of the nursing unit necessary to provide patient care. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representatives of the knowledge, sills, and ability to meet the minimum requirements of this position. Staff Inust demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to varied populations. General hospital environment. Exposure to psychiatric patients who my exhibit violent/aggressive behavior. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids and other hazardous waste. This position must be drug and alcohol free as evidenced by negative results of post-offer, pre-employment urine drug screen. The physical requirements described below are representative of those that must be meet by an employee to successfully perform the functions of this job. Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent. One (1) year of experience working with a psychiatric patient population and previous secretarial experience preferred.

SKILLS: Must possess experience and knowledge of interventional and administrative duties necessary to support nursing and patient care on assigned unit. Assists in the direct care and management of patients with medical and behavioral issues as directed by the treatment team. Assists with unit programming to facilitate and carryover of therapy issues, leisure activities, and activities of daily living of patients on the unit. Must possess knowledge of dual diagnosis/chemical dependency/mental health patients' age-specific patient issues, limit setting and behavior management, crisis prevention and intervention techniques; knowledge and comprehension of regulatory agency standards (DOH, DPW, CMS, Joint Commission, etc); staff development procedures and requirements; ability to communicate orally, telephonic, and in writing; working knowledge of computer systems and various software; must maintain certification for CPR and CPI. Must possess good interpersonal skills and the ability to be a team player. Good documentation, organization and time management skills are necessary. Must be effective in decision-making and problem solving.
