Position Summary:

  • Responsible for the assessment, treatment, management, control, diagnostic evaluation and care of patients during the transport process, under the direction of the Nurse Manager of the Transport Team, the Administrative Director and the Medical Director.
  • Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes and can function autonomously in an advanced clinical role with responsibilities in the areas of desired patient outcomes and can function autonomously in an advanced clinical role with responsibility in the area of clinical care, leadership, education, consultation and research.
  • Contributes to the provision of quality care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care.
  • Assists management in the development of systems, processes and programs to improve the quality of patient care and increase nursing efficiency throughout the transport process.
  • Develops, coordinates, and monitors unit preceptor programs in collaboration with nurse managers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three years as a Registered Nurse in perinatal, neonatal and pediatric critical care or emergency required.
  • Critical care transport experience preferred.
  • Associate’s degree is required. Graduate of a School of Nursing program. Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Current license as an RN in New Mexico or compact license required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is required.
  • ACLS is required for all areas where moderate sedation is performed.
  • New Hires/Transfers: Requires that certification must be obtained within one year of employment. If currently certified, must maintain current certification.
  • Experience within an Acute Care Facility preferred
  • Certification or completion courses must meet the standards of Memorial Medical Center.
