Description of Job
This position works alongside the aquatic research data analyst and learns critical techniques in data management and analytical methods relating to aquatic species management in Colorado.
This internship utilizes online training and personal one-on-one instruction, working with software packages such as SQL, R, ArcGIS, and Tableau, to manage, manipulate, and analyze fisheries data from across the state.
A primary topic of interest will be developed in consultation with the data analyst and worked on throughout the internship to produce a publication or presentation at the local American Fisheries Society Chapter meeting.
Various opportunities to work alongside aquatic survey crews to see how data collection is occurring in the field will be arranged.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Recent graduation from an accredited University with a degree in Fish and Wildlife Management, Computer Science, or a field related to natural resources and data management and analysis
Must have a current & valid driver’s license required for operating a state vehicle
Basic computer skills required (MS Office Suite, Google App Suite);
Ability to work independently, with [limited] supervision, and work well within a team.
