Peckham Inc. - Job Coach

SUMMARY

A Job Coach is an individual who helps people with disabilities learn the specific requirements of the job, learn work-related activities and requirements, and learn appropriate workplace behaviors. Schedules may vary with per diem hours (0 to 30 hours per week) depending on the volume of Job Coach Requests and the Job Coach’s availability. This position does not offer Peckham Staff benefits and locations of assignments vary throughout the Greater Lansing area.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide one-on-one job training to clients at various worksites and Peckham locations

  • Train persons with disabilities on job specific tasks and help with interpersonal skills necessary in the workplace

  • Assist the employee in becoming an independent, competent, and confident part of their new workplace

  • Support the employee with establishing natural supports and facilitate inclusion into the work environment

  • Document client progress and provide professional quality progress reports to staff and supervisors

  • Provide regular communication to staff and supervisors as needed

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain safe and clean work environment

  • Promote Peckham’s vision values and services to all customers and stakeholders

  • Assist in maintaining organizational wide quality standards

  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school Diploma or equivalent

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Access to reliable transportation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
