Job Description

POSITION DUTIES - This position serves as a professional accountant responsible for accounting, revenue projections and monitoring, and internal control activities within the Revenue Collection and Monitoring Section. The position further serves as a professional accountant and analyst on special projects involving Section, Department and Statewide accounting and financial activities. This includes implementing new accounting and financial systems, upgrading previously automated processes, and automating manual processes in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

APPOINTMENT TYPE/BENEFITS - This position is Full-Time. Therefore, you would be eligible to participate in the benefits offered by the state.

Required Education and Experience

Education

Possession of a bachelor's degree with at least 24 semester (36 term) credits in accounting.

Experience

Accountant 9

No specific type or amount is required.

Accountant 10

One year of professional experience performing or auditing the systematic classification and evaluation of accounting data and the preparation of related financial and managerial reports equivalent to an Accountant 9 or Auditor 9.

Accountant P11

Two years of professional experience performing or auditing the systematic classification and evaluation of accounting data and the preparation of related financial and managerial reports, including one year equivalent to an Accountant 10, Auditor 10, or Assistant Auditor General 10.

Alternate Education and Experience

Possession of a Certified Public Accountant certification (CPA) may be substituted for one year of Accountant P11 experience.

OR

Possession of a Certified Management Accountant certification (CMA) may be substituted for six months of Accountant P11 experience.

Vacation and Sick Leave:Eligible full-time employees receive between15 and 35 personal daysand 13 sick daysper year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

Paid Holidays:Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
