Baraga County Shelter Home Executive Director in LAnse, Michigan

Qualified candidates will have knowledge of administrative and management principles necessary for directing services for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking, ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups, knowledge of budgeting principles, personnel procedures, program development, strategic planning and program evaluation. He/she will also have the ability to function as the Executive Director of a non-profit corporation under the supervision of a governing board and possess knowledge of supervisory techniques and staff development.

As the administrative leader of the agency, he/she has primary responsibility for assuring that administrative functions are accomplished through a defined administrative structure. The person in this position serves as the leader of a team and provides the direction and supervision necessary for other personnel to accomplish their assigned duties. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate knowledge of successful fundraising and development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in human services or business administration field, or equivalent working experience.
  • Experience with or training in non-profit management.
  • Ability to work effectively with people from diverse populations and within diverse teams in an empowerment-based, survivor-centered, inclusive model.
  • Experience with budget development, fundraising and expenditure tracking.
  • Experience with various computer software applications including spreadsheets.
  • Strong empathy and empowerment skills.
  • Ability to provide services in keeping with the BCSH's mission and philosophy.
  • Must have the ability to learn and to accept and provide constructive criticism.
  • Must have strong accounting background with experience in general ledger and accrual accounting.
  • Must have excellent communication and office skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with Staff, Clients, Board of Directors, and the public.
  • Must be self-directed and organized with the ability to adapt to ever-changing situations.
  • Must be knowledgeable about internal control and record keeping requirements.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and pass DHHS Central Registry, Sex Offender Registry, and Criminal Background Check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Administrative or supervisory experience with volunteers and/or staff.
  • Familiarity with Federal & State Grant funded programs.
  • Prior experience or extensive training and knowledge in dynamics of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking.
