Science Systems and Applications, Inc. Procurement Intern (Subcontracts) in Lanham, Maryland

SSAI seeks an intern to help provide support to the procurement team. This is a great opportunity to transition into an entry-level procurement role. The position is located at SSAI Headquarters in Lanham, Maryland. The responsibilities include:

  • Subcontract Administration:

  • Assist in the drafting, reviewing, and administration of subcontract agreements.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.

  • Vendor Coordination:

  • Communicate with subcontractors to ensure they understand the terms and conditions of the contract.

  • Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure that deliverables are met according to the agreed-upon schedule.

  • Documentation and Record-Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate records of all subcontract agreements, amendments, and related documents.

  • Track key milestones, deadlines, and financial data associated with subcontracts.

  • Support Contract Negotiations:

  • Assist senior analysts or managers in negotiations with subcontractors, including pricing, terms, and conditions.

  • Prepare reports and summaries to aid in decision-making during negotiations.

  • Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks associated with subcontractors and propose mitigation strategies.

  • Ensure that subcontractors comply with all required regulations, such as safety, quality, and financial standards.

  • Financial Analysis:

  • Monitor and analyze subcontractor costs, ensuring that budgets are adhered to.

  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports related to subcontracts.

  • Compliance and Auditing:

  • Ensure that all subcontracting activities comply with company policies, as well as federal, state, and local laws.

  • Participate in internal and external audits of subcontractor performance and compliance.

  • Stakeholder Communication:

  • Liaise between subcontractors and various departments within the organization, such as procurement, legal, and finance.

  • Provide regular updates on subcontract status to management.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance or related field

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to interpret financial data and identify trends or discrepancies.

  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial records and reports.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact professionally with team members and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, supporting colleagues and contributing to shared goals.

  • Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Basic proficiency in Excel, including the ability to create and manipulate spreadsheets, use formulas, and perform data analysis.

  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in handling financial information.
