Science Systems and Applications, Inc. Electro-Optical Technician in Lanham, Maryland
Science Systems and Applications, Inc (SSAI) is seeking an individual to provide technical setup, test and data verification/analysis services for the Photonics Laboratories at Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). This multi-faceted position will entail activities including:
Inspection and verification of incoming electro-optical and other fiber optic piece part components
Development and implementation of bias board test circuits and other component specific electrical and electro-optical test fixtures
Electrical and optical verification of the various parts used in flight and non-flight space instruments and subsystems
Test equipment setup, pilot testing runs, and test monitoring
Maintenance and operation of thermal, thermal vacuum, and cryogenic test chambers, as well as vibration and shock testing.
Generation of test reports and maintenance of test logs
Calibration of test equipment, including meters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and management of calibration activities for lab equipment.
Required qualifications:
A.A. Degree, preferably in a technical field
Demonstrated experience in a laboratory/testing environment
Understand and interpret electrical schematics and troubleshoot basic testing fixtures and test systems
Knowledge of electrical and electro-optical test equipment, operation, and safety requirements
Well organized, with the ability to multi-task effectively and keep jobs on schedule
Experienced user of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
Excellent English communication (verbal and written) skills
Desired qualifications:
Experience with PCB design and layout tools or Labview is desired
Previous NASA experience a plus
