Robert Half Administrative Assistant in Lanham, Maryland

Description We are offering a contract employment opportunity for an Administrative Assistant within the non-profit industry in Lanham, Maryland. This role primarily involves front desk administrative tasks and requires strong customer service and computer proficiency. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including processing mail, managing telephone calls, and tracking documents.

Responsibilities:

• Manage front desk operations, serving as the first point of entry for visitors and clients.

• Handle incoming calls, including screening, transferring, and routing calls as well as taking messages.

• Process and distribute mail in a timely and organized manner.

• Maintain and manage file systems, ensuring all documents are accurately filed and easily retrievable.

• Draft letters and other written correspondence as needed.

• Track important documents and ensure they are properly handled and stored.

• Assist case managers and social workers with scheduling and other administrative tasks.

• Operate basic office equipment and maintain proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

• Monitor office supplies and inventory, liaising with building management as necessary.

• Provide back office support to ensure smooth operations. Requirements • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

• Experience in administrative assistance roles, preferably within the non-profit sector.

• Proficient in basic office skills such as filing, drafting correspondence, and mail distribution.

• Familiarity with basic office equipment and their maintenance.

• Proven ability to manage scheduling and back office support tasks.

• Experience in supply ordering to ensure smooth office operations.

• Strong computer proficiency, with the ability to quickly learn new software and systems.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively draft correspondence and communicate with various stakeholders.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring efficient and accurate completion of tasks.

• Ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.

• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Experience in a non-profit environment is a plus but not mandatory.

• A proactive approach to work, with a willingness to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
