Job Summary

Responsible for maximizing sales targets within an assigned territory. Work in a team-sales setting to support field sales in managing all sales activities, including prospecting, quoting, purchasing, vendor management, expediting, lead follow-up, and performing data analysis for trends at the account and product level.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

  • Handles sales quotas for assigned territory. Ensures customers’ needs and expectations regarding their order are met. Follows through with requests to completion or delegates to internal partners.

  • Provides product and pricing information to customers via phone or email. Obtains and prepares bid documents.

  • Contributes to the maintenance of lasting relationships with customers through knowledgeable communication and proactive resolution of questions or issues.

  • Provides support to field-based staff to support productivity. Manages all aspects of the order cycle as necessary to ensure customer satisfaction including prospecting, quoting, purchasing, vendor management, expediting, and lead follow-up.

  • Analyzes sales trends at the account and product level within assigned territory. Creates and executes action plans with the extended sales team.

  • Promotes the organization’s product line and services and supports marketing campaigns.

  • Executes the complete sales process from engaging potential clients to following up to ensure order satisfaction. Provides updates and feedback, and escalates issues appropriately to the sales and leadership teams.

  • Negotiates and closes sales within current pricing, discount structure, and average pricing goals to meet or exceed sales goals for assigned territory.

Nature and Scope

  • Refers complex, unusual problems to supervisor.

  • Under general supervision, exercises some judgment in accordance with well-defined policies, procedures, and techniques. Work typically involves regular review of output by a senior coworker or supervisor.

  • None.

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

  • Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting, and maneuvering material or equipment that may be heavy (50+ pounds) or awkward.

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 5% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred. Specialized skills training/certification may be required. Generally 2-5 years of experience in area of responsibility.
