Job Information

Woods Services Physical Therapist in Langhorne, Pennsylvania

Responsible for providing direct and consultative physical therapy services to clients; develops, implements, monitors and documents client progress; coordinates procurement, maintenance and use of equipment.

  • Provides physical therapy services to clients as prescribed by the physician and required by the IEP/IHP.

  • Conduct evaluations and annual assessments on assigned clients; responds to assigned service requests.

  • Prepares and distributes accurate records of clients’ treatment, tests, reactions and evaluation of progress on a monthly/quarterly report, as required.

  • Participates in Interdisciplinary Team Process for assigned clients; develops habilitation and service goals and objectives and monitors same.

  • Instructs staff in procedures to be followed in implementing IHP goals, utilizing positioning equipment and carrying out requisite therapeutic programs.

  • Directs staff in care and use of wheelchairs, brace, ambulatory and orthotic devices.

  • Directs activities of physical therapy assistants, aides and volunteer workers.

  • Instructs physical therapy students in physical therapy theory, treatment and techniques.

  • Participates in orthopedic clinic.

  • Provides in-service training to staff.

  • Accumulates 24 training hours per year.

  • Attends and participates in department meetings.

  • Keeps abreast of new procedures and techniques by reading professional literature, attending continuing educational seminars and professional meetings.

  • Evaluates, recommends, and assists in procuring appropriate adaptive equipment.

  • Consults with occupational therapy, speech/language pathologists and adaptive equipment specialist as needed. Integrates therapy services with disciplines, as appropriate.

  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:

  • Graduate of an accredited college/university of physical therapy and licensed to practice physical therapy in Pennsylvania.

  • Embraces a cooperative system in communications with clinical, residential, medical and vocational staff to teach or share information regarding program in an effort to maximize patient/client outcomes.

  • Physical therapists are bound by a code of ethics.

  • Maintain currency by participating in lifelong learning. Life-long learning includes development of knowledge, skills and abilities in order to meet current standards of practice and in this specific setting are current in knowledge of acquired traumatic brain injury.

  • Committed to delivering quality patient care services.

  • An integral part of the healthcare delivery team.

  • Are responsible for all aspects of physical therapy services including those provided by assistive personnel under the direction of the physical therapist.

  • Form professional relationships with patients/clients, colleagues and other members of the healthcare team in an effort to maximize patient/ client outcomes.

  • Avoid potential conflict of interest situations and circumstances that could be construed as harassment or abuse of patients, colleagues, associates or employees.

  • Demonstrate sensitivity to individual and cultural differences when engaged in physical therapy practice.

  • Demonstrates knowledge and works to accommodate health disparities for individuals and the community at large.

  • Must have current license in the state of Pennsylvania or eligible for licensure.

  • Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.

  • Able to lift/transfer a minimum of 50 pounds.
