Woods Services Head Chef (Long-Term Care Facility) - Day Shift! in Langhorne, Pennsylvania

Assumes the lead position in the main cooking area. Directly involved in the menu planning, preparation, and production of food items main courses and entree items. This position reports to Food Service Supervisor, and in his/her absence, to the Food Service Director and/or Assistant Manager.

  • Assists the Food Service Supervisor in formulating daily production schedules, establishing raw material quantities, and setting specific food counts.

  • Operates cook/chill equipment according to regulatory agency standards.

  • Follows a daily production schedule, and uses standardized recipes in the production of all foods. Assists in revising these items when required.

  • Follows the department's policies and procedures for safe food production.

  • Instructs other personnel on tasks in the cooking area.

  • Assist’s Supervisor in weekly cooks scheduling

  • Prepares and packages main course and entree items for the menu, special requisitions and other special occasions.

  • Produces all food items to meet the department's delivery schedule.

  • Practices economic utilization of foods to avoid waste.

  • Maintains high quality standards on all prepared foods.

  • Keeps area clean, safe and organized.

  • Other related duties as assigned

  • Assists in other department positions as needed.

  • Associates Degree in Culinary Arts preferred or formal training in a Technical school, restaurant, or hotel.

  • Minimum four years of volume cooking experience required.

  • Knowledge in cook chill processing, culinary arts and gluten free foods.

  • Experience in high volume cooking and knowledge of proper utilization of food services equipment.

  • Ability to contribute to department objectives and enhance output in a team environment.

  • Be able to instruct other personnel in department when needed.

  • Knowledgeable of safe food preparation and must be ServSafe Certified.

  • Must be able to read, write and verbally communicate in English.

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 75-lbs. Moderate physical activity. Able to work fluctuating hours.
