Job Information

Woods Services Art Teacher in Langhorne, Pennsylvania

Is responsible for teaching concepts and skills in foods and nutrition, clothing and textiles, home management, family relationships, and consumer education to secondary pupils; utilizing courses of study adopted by the Board of Education, and other appropriate learning activities.

  • Organizes class activities so that preparation, instruction and clean-up activities can be accomplished within the allotted class time.

  • Demonstrates skill techniques in home economics and prepares appropriate instructional aids and display materials to enhance learning.

  • Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.

  • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly and productive environment in the laboratory-type classroom.

  • Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids, and equipment.

  • Acquires dietary information on each student and adheres to diet and allergy restrictions when planning lessons.

  • Maintains required inventory records, purchases groceries and other supplies as authorized.

  • Identifies pupil needs, and cooperates with other professional staff members in helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.

  • Maintains a clean and appropriate teaching environment; reports any safety concerns or issues immediately to supervisor.

  • Maintains professional competence and certification requirements through In-Service education activities provided by the school and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.

  • Performs other duties as may, from time to time, be assigned by the supervisor.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree and possession of a current Pennsylvania Professional Certificate in Art K-12 and/or Family Consumer Science. Special Responsible for maintaining this certification and for maintaining and developing professional skills by participating in appropriate training sessions and or/courses. Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication.

  • ​Experience in developing and implementing special education programs and classroom management for students with developmental disabilities or related experience is preferred.

  • Physical Requirements: Able to lift/transfer a minimum of 50 pounds, be agile, physically pursue clients on foot, physically restrain, bend, squat, stretch, reach, push up and stand for several hours at a time.

  • ​PA Act 33 & FBI Background Clearances.
