Job Summary/Purpose : The Health Information Management Technician plays an integral part in the collection and preparation of medical records for coding and reimbursement activities, physician chart completion, and permanent record storage and retrieval. This position ensures that medical records are maintained in accordance with Medical Staff Rules and Regulations, state and Federal guidelines, and The Joint Commission accrediting standards. All work is carried out in accordance with the Health Information Management Department and MUSC approved policies and procedures.

Minimum Training and Education : High School diploma or GED equivalent. One year prior clerical experience, preferably in a hospital medical record/health information management department.
