Warn Industries Laser Operator in Lancaster, South Carolina

Position Summary:

As a Laser Operator, your primary role is to operate and maintain laser cutting machines. You will work with different materials, following specifications and designs to achieve precise cuts. Attention to detail, technical skills, and the ability to troubleshoot machine issues are crucial in this role.

Essential Functions:

· Operate laser cutting according to established guidelines and procedures.

· Load and unload materials onto the machine, ensuring proper alignment.

· Monitor machine operation, making adjustments as instructed, and reporting any issues promptly.

· Perform basic maintenance tasks such as cleaning and make adjustments for cut quality.

· Inspect finished products for quality and adherence to specifications.

· Record production data accurately, including quantities, times, and any deviations from standard procedures.

· Set up and calibrate laser machines for production runs, ensuring precision and accuracy.

· Troubleshoot and resolve minor machine issues during operations.

· Train and mentor entry-level operators, providing guidance on best practices.

· Collaborate with the production team to meet production goals and deadlines.

· Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards throughout the production process.

· Perform routine preventive maintenance and assist in the development of maintenance schedules.

· Must be able to learn and perform tape shots, ceramic inspections, Nozzle inspections, etc… to ensure quality cut.

· All production must be kept in the production line clean, indexed forward and completed daily.

· Cut all programs in order of production board sequencing, unless noted otherwise.

· Never cut outside of KanBan. Unless stated otherwise.

· Responsible for Machines department daily cleaning chores.

Required Education and/or Experience:

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· 2+ years of experience as a laser machine operator, preferred.

· Basic understanding of machine operations, laser cutting technologies, materials, and processes.

· Knowledge of laser machine programming (Pro-Nest) preferred.

· Forklift operator certification required; this will be provided onsite by the company.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:

· Have and maintain ability to read a tape measure and calipers. (digital and non-digital)

· Strong problem-solving skills.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Good communication skills to interact with team members and supervisors.

· Ability to follow instructions and work in a team.

· Attention to detail and commitment to quality.

· Basic mechanical aptitude.

· Physical ability to lift and move materials.

· Desire to learn how to the operate press brake.

Availability Requirements:

This is on 3rd (evening) shift – Sunday to Friday – 9:30pm to 6:00am with occasional overtime as needed.

Due to the nature and scope of the essential functions of this position, the importance of personal interactions with coworkers, and the availability of job-related tools, equipment and resources at work, performance of the essential functions requires regular, consistent availability, accessibility, and presence on-site.

Approximately 40 hours / week may be required to efficiently perform the job duties of this position, including presence at designated internal and external meetings. This position may also require availability and accessibility to respond to and address emergencies and critical situations outside of normal business operating hours in the early mornings, evenings and/or during weekends. Overtime may be scheduled and required to meet departmental needs.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, write, verbalize and comprehend instructions and correspondence at the highest levels in the English language. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to customers, clients, and other team members. Advanced conflict resolution skills. Excellent interpersonal skills.

Mathematical Skills:

Must have mathematical skills equivalent to those required under degree requirements. Higher skills may be required depending on actual job duties.

Physical and Visual Activities:

Standing, Walking, Sitting, Lifting, Carrying, Balancing, Stooping, Reaching, Handling, Feeling, Acuity-Far, Acuity-Near, Depth Perception, and Field of Vision.

Physical Demands:

May require a combination of sitting, standing, and walking. May require lifting up to 60 pounds with assistance.

Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions:

Must be able to work in a shop environment, as well as a usual office environment. May be exposed to loud operating machinery, cold / hot temperatures, chemicals, and vapors.

Machines, Tools, Equipment, Software:

Personal computer, fax machine, copy machine, other office equipment, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint. May minimally operate test equipment and/or basic hand tools.
