Description:

ABOUT THE ROLE

The primary objective of the Manager Environmental and Land is to provide expertise and support to the regional Aggregate Construction Materials business in the area of land management, lease management, acquisition, and divestment along with general environmental regulatory support and due diligence.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.

  • Management of land portfolio including leases, freehold assets, and other agreements.

  • Negotiate terms of leases and mining agreements

  • Advise and support land management practices and processes including land acquisition, land divestment, permitting and zoning, and others.

  • Work with landowners and tenants for effective management of land and leasehold assets.

  • Coordinate with accounting staff to ensure accurate and timely payment of royalties and other required payments.

  • Support land reclamation and restoration budgeting and project implementation for assigned sites.

  • Participate in projects with cross-functional teams to address business opportunities or challenges. Provide environmental and land expertise for new projects

  • Keep current with all Federal, State, and Local land and environmental legal requirements and monitor developments and changes.

  • Keep current and familiar with the operating status of assigned sites anticipating and resolving potential or actual land and environmental compliance issues.

  • Advise operations on land and environmental regulatory requirements and provide technical support as needed.

  • Evaluate permitting needs and manage the procurement of permits with state and federal agencies

  • Assist operations in identifying and managing capital projects for site land and environmental upgrades

  • Responsible for conducting audits and evaluations of land and environmental compliance with regulatory and industry standards.

  • Responsible for performing audits of facilities for conformance with company policies and procedures and making recommendations to Operations Management.

  • Participate in Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), state environmental agencies, and local government inspections. Coordinate preparation of responses to agency inspection reports.

  • Provide day-to-day presence in the field and understanding of local issues.

  • Actively participate in various industry land and environment-related organizations to keep abreast of industry standards and developing issues

  • Participate in stakeholder/community outreach program development and actively participate in outreach events for assigned facilities.

  • Oversee consultant work in accordance with Land and Environment Department project authorizations.

  • Respond and provide oversight for any needed emergency response actions that arise in relation to environmental incidents.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Education: Bachelor's degree or 7-10 years of equivalent experience.

Additional Education Preferred: Master's degree

Field of Study Preferred: Environmental Engineering or related science and technical discipline

Required Work Experience: 5-10 years experience

Required Training/Certifications: Formal leadership training, team building, continuous improvements, and related fields is preferred.

Licenses Preferred: Professional Engineering License a plus

Required Computer and Software Skills: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and various other programs

Travel Requirements: 20% with regional business

Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of EPA and CDPHE Air Permitting and Storm Water Programs preferred

  • Knowledge of Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety permits and processes preferred.

  • Experience with Environmental Due Diligence, Leases, Land Acquisition and Divestment, and Zoning

  • Highly organized self-starter with the ability to successfully manage simultaneous projects and priorities with minimal supervision.

  • Comfort and solid familiarity with public relations, public presentations, and communications with government and community members.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.

Estimated Wage Range $90,000-$120,000/Annually
