Astronics CSC, Lake Zurich, IL is seeking a degreed Mechanical Engineer. Position requires a BSME with a minimum of 1 years of experience in a design environment, including the use of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Creo.

Summary

Performs entry-level mechanical/structural component and installation design assignments required to support the installation design and certification of systems and equipment onboard commercial aircraft.

Responsibilities:

  • Work within a project team to understand component functionality.

  • Develop components and system installations to satisfy competing requirements while also considering factors such as cost, schedule, manufacturability, etc.

  • Develop parts lists/Bills of Materials for piece-part, assembly, and installation drawings.

  • Produce piece-part, assembly, and installation drawing requisite to effectively communicate manufacturing data and installation design.

  • Actively assist project management and engineering teams in solving internal and external analysis, manufacturing, and design challenges.

  • Limited planning required outside immediate or assigned task.

  • Able to communicate clearly in writing (e.g. email, memos, explanations, drawings) and explain work to his/her supervisor and others in the group.

  • Can work effectively with peers.

  • Responsible for implementing and complying with all ethical and legal compliance requirements.

  • Other duties & functions may be assigned to this position as needed.

  • Working knowledge of ISO/9001/14000/13485 and AS9100 processes.

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or in a related technical field.

  • 1+ years of experience working in a mechanical design capacity.

  • Familiarity and/or experience working with a 3D CAD package, preferably AutoCad, Creo or Solid works.

  • Familiarity and/or experience developing piece-part, assembly, and/or installation models, analyses and drawings.
