Quality Improvement Specialist Lake Success, New York, United States | 720 | Full-time

The Quality Improvement Specialist (QIS) will serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team working to improve the quality of health care for Medicaid beneficiaries enrolled in managed care plans (MCPs). The QIS will conduct virtual and onsite reviews of primary care practices, maternity care practices, and hospitals; review activities associated with best practices in health care delivery, equity, and patient engagement; advise on quality improvement strategies in both the organization of clinical quality and office efficiency; and write reports. The ideal candidate will be a critical thinker with practical experience in patient care, quality improvement and assessment of quality improvement initiatives, as well as writing for diverse audiences. This is a client-facing role and successful candidates must possess strong communication skills.

The ideal candidate would be based in IPROs Ohio or New York (Lake Success) office. Potential opportunity for hybrid & remote work available (U.S. only) location will be considered. Up to 30 days of travel per year expected.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Assess the quality of care in outpatient and inpatient health care settings during virtual and in-person review meetings with multidisciplinary healthcare teams. Understand and synthesize complex healthcare policies and the corresponding requirements for organizations, practices, and providers. Write reports summarizing the findings of quality-of-care assessments. Manage multiple timelines and deadlines simultaneously. Conduct presentations to clinicians, administrators, and other office/clinic staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of the principles and tools of quality improvement. Knowledge of the principles of primary care, maternal and newborn health, population health, and quality improvement. Knowledge of Medicaid managed care. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build productive relationships with clinicians, other health professionals and internal staff. Strong communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills. Computer proficiency with a developed knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint) and an aptitude for acquiring working knowledge of specific software applications such as those found in ambulatory EHRs or other sites that provide health care services. Knowledge of one or more existing ambulatory EHR software packages is a plus. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team. Ability to travel to practice sites as required. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelors degree in public administration, public policy, public health, or a related field, required. Masters degree in public health, quality improvement science, health informatics, or related field preferred. Licensed RN, LPN, or MSW, preferred OR extensive quality improvement experience. Two (2) years of experience working in quality improvement in a health care organization, required OR managed care plan, preferred. Previous work experience involving quality assessment and/or quality improvement preferred. Previous report writing experience, preferred.

The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. The annualized salary range for this position is $73,000.00-$85,000.00. Actual salary range and/or hourly rate depends on a variety of factors including experience, education, credentials, location, and budget. The salary range and/or hourly rate listed does not include other forms of compensation or benefits.
