Job Title: Field Service Technician

Job Description

We are looking for a highly skilled Field Service Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have an Associate's Degree in Electronics and 5-10+ years of experience. This role requires good knowledge of electronics, including schematic reading and understanding wiring diagrams. You will need to be familiar with 3 phase power (208 – 600 volts), relay logic, circuit breakers, contactors, VFDs, electronics, and microcomputers. You should be able to understand relay ladder diagrams for major troubleshooting, PLC ladder diagrams for minor troubleshooting, and perform tasks like loading programs and running diagnostics. The role involves national travel up to 50% of the time, with trips typically lasting 2-3 days at a time and up to 2 weeks out of the month. When not traveling, you will provide in-house technical support and troubleshooting over the phone. A firm grasp of Ohm's Law and the symbols for basic electrical elements, as well as the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical circuits with 3 phase power, is essential.

Hard Skills

  • Associates Degree in Electronics

  • 5-10+ years of experience

  • Knowledge of electronics, schematic reading, and wiring diagrams

  • Familiarity with 3 phase power (208 – 600 volts), relay logic, circuit breakers, contactors, VFDs, electronics, and microcomputers

  • Understanding of relay ladder diagrams, major troubleshooting

  • Ability to plug in the laptop and run diagnostics

  • Experience with 3 phase industrial motors and reduced voltage starting

Soft Skills

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 9 Month(s).

Work Environment

Small manufacturing company with about 35 employees. The role involves overseeing the installation process, factory acceptance testing, and powering up equipment at various locations, including large warehouses, commercial buildings, and high-rises. The company's products include fire pump controllers per building codes for fire safety.
