Location:  Lake County, Illinois-- USA

Compensation:  $60.00 per hour, Paid Time off, Company 401k contributions, Health, dental, and vision insurance.  Total Annual Compensation including benefits is $ 138,000.00

    As a key member of the Precision Medicine Data Strategy and Operations team, the Data Transformation Specialist role is responsible for the oversight of exploratory biomarker data storage, transformation, and reporting across various therapeutic areas (TAs). This individual will collaborate closely with Precision Medicine study teams and other business functions to ensure exploratory biomarker data generated for Precision Medicine is successfully transferred and accessible to Precision Medicine scientists while maintaining a high standard of data integrity and quality. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team dedicated to supporting Precision Medicine’s culture of creating meaningful insights related to clinical study outcomes for biomarkers that ultimately lead to better, faster decisions and therapies for patients.

    Data Transformation Specialist Responsibilities

  • Define and support data transformation and preparation activities independently and in conjunction with Information Research (IR) Data Solutions.

  • Demonstrate proficiency with handling large and complex data sets across a variety of technologies for storage, transfer, integration, visualization, and analysis.

  • Translate structured and unstructured laboratory results generated from a wide range of biomarker assays (PCR, IHC, FISH, Flow, RNASeq, NGS, etc.) into standardized datasets used for analysis and reporting.

  • Investigate and resolve biomarker data discrepancies to ensure correct data reporting and contribute to the development of automated data reconciliation workflows.

  • Closely collaborate with Precision Medicine scientists and IR and DSS partners to set priorities and provide biomarker data management support across various TAs and programs.

  • Contribute innovative ideas and perspectives to develop new solutions and recommend process improvements, including automated data transformation and reporting systems that efficiently translate raw data into consumable information.

  • Function as a data storage, transformation, and reporting subject matter expert (SME) for Precision Medicine.

  • Review data transfer specifications/agreements as needed to ensure timely and accurate collection and transfer of biomarker data for assigned studies.

    Data Transformation Specialist Qualifications

  • Experience with Python is REQUIRED

  • Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in a relevant scientific field and typically 6+ years of experience (BS), 3+ years of experience (MS), or 1+ years of experience (PhD). Advanced degree preferred.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with Precision Medicine scientists, study teams, data scientists, and other business stakeholders.

  • Ability to work with large datasets and databases containing various types of laboratory data. Experience with omics datasets (metabolomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, etc.) preferred.

  • Experience with data cleaning and preprocessing techniques to handle missing data, outliers, and inconsistencies.

  • Understanding of data normalization and standardization methods.

  • Familiarity with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and tools desirable but not required.

  • Experience with data visualization and reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Spotfire, etc. desirable but not required.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to support business process development initiatives to align data transformation capabilities with organizational goals.
