Education / Training:

• Bachelor of Science Degree, major in business, engineering, supply chain management or logistics is preferred;

• Master of Science Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or Master of Business Administration degree – preferred.

Key Job Elements:

Reporting directly to this position are the senior vice president of services excellence and services readiness, the North America services operations leader, the global services commercial leader, key account services leaders, the aftermarket pipeline and commercial director, the aftermarket operations and distribution director, and the fleet reliability and performance director.

In addition to the duties further outlined below, the SVP of global locomotive aftermarket and contract services is responsible for developing a safety culture in line with our Safety Driven strategy, and to teach, train and continuously evaluate our safety program and foster a continuous learning and improvement safety culture to deliver a safe environment for our employees.

The SVP of global locomotive aftermarket and contract services is responsible for the services growth strategy - setting, owning, and executing the strategy for the $1B+ targeted EMD aftermarket business with a target to double the business in 3-to-5-year window. A successful leader in this role will:

• drive the fleet performance improvement strategy and execute to regain customer confidence in order to re-claim and grow the aftermarket business;

• lead the services organization and partner with product management, engineering, sales, and operations to develop and execute programmatic fleet strategy and plan that delivers value and benefit to the customers while balancing internal resource constrains to include reliability programs, fleet performance, up-selling, over-haul program enhancement, new product introduction, digital and next generation services, strategic pricing, and adjacency business and products;

• maintain laser focus on fleet reliability, parts on-time-delivery, and fleet performance improvement, and services capability to ensure EMD locomotives are active and the preferred fleet in operation;

• drive a clear understanding of product performance and problem resolution by leading the customer performance team and managing availability and reliability of the locomotive fleet;

• manage contract maintenance and product service growth, as well as the vision, strategy and execution plan;

• develop consistency among fleet operations at separate facilities;

• maintain fleet performance objectives while working within budget constraints;

• develop programs to acquaint new employees with locomotive maintenance procedures and product function;

• ensure that all governmental agencies procedures and requirements are documented and available;

• collaborate with product engineering on modification programs and design change recommendations;

• collaborate with supply chain regarding forecasting requirements and material availability; and

• manage warranty and modification organizations.

The SVP of global locomotive aftermarket and contract services is also responsible for the locomotive division’s distribution strategy which will include:

• set up;

• continuous evaluation and improvement of the existing distribution strategy to globalize our supply chain, remanufacturing and service to customers to optimize operating costs and manage the material availability for our customers;

• balancing the cost of taxes, duties, value added tax and transportation to the customer to serve the markets with a hub- and spoke model; and

• managing expediting delivery costs, developing an operating rhythm around forecasting, ordering, stocking, and delivering the product “on-time” to our customers.

Travel: +/- 50%.

International travel is required.

Qualifications and Experience:

• The successful candidate must have significant managerial experience and skill to plan, organize, oversee and direct work in an organization-wide area;

• The job requires highly developed interpersonal skills to deal with sensitive, emotional, or potentially controversial situations;

• Minimum of 10 years management experience;

• High level of technical locomotive product/performance knowledge;

• High degree of knowledge of locomotive maintenance procedures;

• High level of analytical ability;

• Appropriate interpersonal styles & communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals required;

• Excellent written & oral communication skills;

• High level of working knowledge of railroad practices;

• Demonstrated service/shop experience at railroad or manufacturing facility;

• High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual or difficult;

• Ability to travel as required, up to 50%.

Preferred:

• Six Sigma Certification;

• Team Building Experience.

Essential and Physical Activities Functions

• Strength – May be required to lift up to 50 pounds to assist in shipping event‐related materials;

• Motion – Position requires standard repetitive motions and hand/eye coordination associated with normal office communications;

• Vision/Hearing Requirements – Required to use computer, read, and interpret orders, and communicate effectively with internal and external customers on the phone; frequent communications, including both talking and hearing;

• Work Environment – Position will typically be located in an office environment;

• Emotional Demands – Required to liaise with multiple levels within the organization, including senior leaders, managers, and production workforce; must be well‐spoken, able to manage multiple priorities and individual requests daily, with professional and supportive attitude;

• Safety – Position is primarily limited to general office safety requirements. Safety requirements may change based on field work (i.e., if visiting a facility or railroad) and would require the use of all relevant PPE and follow safety protocols.
