Position: Construction Supervisor
Department: Roads and Engineering
Salary: $21.12/Hr
Under general supervision and instruction this position is responsible for supervising and participating in road construction and maintenance operations.
Qualifications/Knowledge:
- Must have high school diploma or GED
- Must have a current valid driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a related field is preferred
- Knowledge of road construction and maintenance principles
- Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance
- Knowledge of work zone safety principles
- Knowledge of relevant federal and state laws, county ordinances, and department policies and procedures
- Skill in the supervision of personnel
- Skill in problem solving, prioritizing and planning
- Skill in interpersonal relations
- Skill in oral and written communication
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervises and participates in the construction and maintenance of county roads and related infastructure
- Installs and repairs storm drains and driveway pipes
- Supervises and assists with traffic control in work zones
- Operates a variety of heavy equipment, including bull dozer, loaders, backhoe, bobcat, etc.
- Inspects equipment and coordinates equipment maintenance
- Transports crew to and from worksites
- Responds to after-hours emergencies
- Maintains daily log of work performed
- Trains, assigns, directs, supervises, evaluates, and disciplines personnel
- Performs all other related duties as assigned
