Job Summary

This position coordinates the development, implementation, and monitoring of safety and emergency preparedness activities for the hospital and related entities. To accomplish this, the incumbent will lead processes for the development, testing, continuous improvement, and management of safety and emergency preparedness plans, policies and procedures. The ability to develop / present presentations to large groups, participate on internal and external committees, and develop reports is essential.

Description

Minimum Required

Experience

A minimum of 3 years of experience in hospital or industrial safety

Education

Associate's degree in Safety Engineering or related safety or healthcare curricula.

Training

Knowledge of Federal, State, local codes and the standards of NFPA, OSHA, ANSI, JCAHO, and applicable CFRs.

Special Skills

Proficiency in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Basic knowledge of related test/sampling equipment; Ability to conduct investigations, surveys/inspections, training programs. Knowledge of hazardous materials and waste management, PPE, fire emergency procedures, emergency preparedness, medical equipment. Basic computer skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Good interpersonal/human relation skills. Ability to travel to various facilities within the health system. Ability to travel in and out of state. Presentational communication skills

Licensure

Valid driver’s license required; variable travel requirements depending on primary site that may require use of personal vehicle
