Cross Safe is seeking a reliable and dedicated On-Call Crossing Guard to play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of children and pedestrians at crosswalks and intersections on all school days. This paid, on-call position offers a truly rewarding experience helping to safeguard our community.
Position Details
Location: Lafayette, IN
Schedule: Possible on-call shift times range from 7:00 AM–9:00 AM in the morning and 2:00 PM–4:00 PM in the afternoon.
On-Call Requirement: Guards are paid for being available during designated times in case another guard is unable to make their shift. If called upon, you are required to report and cover the shift as needed.
What You’ll Do
As a Crossing Guard, your responsibilities include:
Safely guiding children and pedestrians across designated intersections or crosswalks.
Monitoring traffic flow and signaling pedestrians to cross when safe.
Using hand signals, stop paddles, and verbal commands to direct traffic when necessary.
Ensuring compliance with traffic and safety regulations at all times.
Reporting traffic violations or safety concerns to law enforcement or school authorities.
Assisting pedestrians in inclement weather or hazardous conditions.
Maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor when interacting with students, parents, and drivers.
Attending training sessions and safety protocol meetings as required.
Collaborating with school officials, parents, and local authorities to promote traffic safety awareness.

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience as a crossing guard or in a related field is advantageous.
Ability and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and remain alert and attentive during duty hours.
