Terrain Park Lead 

Departments: Snow Sports School and Mountain Operations

Full Time or Part Time Seasonal, Hourly

Job Summary: Manages the day-to-day operations of Terrain Park offerings at Ski Big Bear at Masthope Mountain Establishes and implements service and safety standards in accordance with company policies and procedures.

 

Base Pay: $15/hour+

 

Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks include the following; other duties may be assigned:

  • Responsible for overall development of terrain park including daily feature maintenance, builds, events, and snow planning.

  • Ensures that park features are well maintained and consistent with best practices incorporated into daily operations.

  • Coordinates with supervisory staff to evaluate conditions by skiing/riding in the parks throughout the day and determines courses of action and communicates with appropriate team members.

  • Builds customer relations and ensures our guests are treated courteously, safely and efficiently.

  • Determines work priorities, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.

  • Responds to customer and management complaints.

  • Performs or assists subordinates in performing duties.

     

Competencies and Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of the mountain: terrain, lifts, potential hazards, 

  • Knowledge of Terrain Park features and how to build them.

  • Knowledge of Terrain Park General Industry Accepted Practices or willingness to learn.

  • Good leadership, customer service, communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to make quick good decisions, react to crisis, stay calm under pressure.

  • Ability to respond to inquiries from customers.

  • Ability to effectively present information to management.

  • Should be an advanced snowboarder or skier.

  • Able to evaluate rapidly changing conditions and impacts to operation.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, see, hear, and ski. Must be capable of walking or standing 90% or more of a normal 8 hour work shift. Must be capable of frequently carrying, lifting. pushing or pulling up to 50lbs, occasionally up to 75lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Working Conditions:

Indoor/Outdoor: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently be exposed to outside weather conditions, including extreme cold, wet conditions, and snowy conditions. 

 

Hazardous Materials/Noise: The noise level in the work place is usually moderate. 

 

Equipment Used in Job: Mobile radio, rails and boxes in parks, skis or snowboards, and hand tools.

 

Experience/ Education - High School Diploma or GED
