About The Position

The Shift Supervisor I is responsible for supervising, directing, and coordinating all phases of mechanical and electrical operations of power plant equipment to ensure continuous, safe, efficient, and economical operation.

Key responsibilities include:

· Supervise, train, appraise, and coordinate plant personnel in control room, coal handling and other equipment operations and maintenance (including instruments and controls).

· Lead plant personnel including Unit Operating Engineers (who operate the plant from a central control room), Production Operating Engineers (who operate and maintain the field equipment), Master Control Technicians (who maintain the instruments and controls) and Coal Equipment Operating Engineers (who operate the heavy mobile equipment for pushing coal and the stationary coal receiving equipment).

· Completely responsible for the safe, reliable, legal and efficient operation of the plant on P.M., Owl, and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelors Degree in a technical discipline (e.g. engineering) preferred. Two or more years of relevant power plant experience required with Bachelors Degree; five or more years of relevant power plant required without degree, with preference given for operations experience. Five or more years of relevant heavy industrial experience may be considered, but preference will be given to candidates with power plant experience. Willingness and ability to work rotating shifts required.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Good decision-making, communication, leadership skills, as well as good technical knowledge of power plant principles required.
