Your main tasks and responsibilities:
- Capable of operating all Low Speed Balance Machines and make corrections in balance correction areas:
Perform Check balance of Rotors as required
Perform Individual component balance of parts to be installed on the rotor
Perform Progressive Stack and Balance of Rotors
Perform Final Balance of Rotors
- Capable of operating the High Speed Spin Pit:
Perform Setup of Wheels, Rotor or Assemblies to minimize risk associated with high speed spin test.
Work controls, following the strict procedure that outlines the speed in which the wheel and/or assembly will be sped.
Capable of Cross Training in the AT-SPEED Balancing Department
Complete assigned jobs start to finish with little or no supervision. This include the ability to perform the following:
Use proper procedure to lift and flip rotors as required
Understand critical areas of the rotor that must be protect to prevent damage and utilize the processes and procedures in place to ensure no damage occurs
- Maintain Equipment as required:
Check / Clean electric motors
Maintain / Replace work belts
Maintain / Replace probes and cables
Work closely with other Balance Technicians to create a team atmosphere with shared responsibility. Train new hire’s, as required, or engineers associated with the project being worked.
Use multiple precision measuring tools and obtain accurate, repeatable results:
Handle precision measuring tools with great care
Understand correct measuring techniques and how difference measuring methods created differing results
Have tools ready and organized to start working at the scheduled start time.
Work scheduled overtime, off shift or overtime as required
Maintain a complete set of Balance Technician Tooling required for unstacking, stacking and balancing of Turbomachinery Equipment
Clearly communicate with people in the balance department and other departments at shift change on the status of the project you are working on and what is needed to continue or complete the task(s).
Maintain professionalism at all times as this position often involves length an demanding customer witness inspections
Clearly document measurements and balance information on SHI approved forms, working with other to create forms as required.
Comply with the requirements of risk assessments and safety procedures.
Use PPE as identified in risk assessments or other related safety documents.
Do not undertake activities that have not been risk assessed, or where an assessment is not available or understood.
Report any instances of spillage, uncontrolled exposure or other related safety issues to their line manager.
Ensure the correct use of waste segregation facilities and the efficient use of natural resources and raw materials.

Must have experience working with turbo machinery repair
Must have the required tools to perform their expected tasks
Must be able to work overtime when necessary
Must be able to use precision measuring instruments
