Aerotek Maintenance Technician in La Porte, Indiana

Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Job Description

As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a critical role in the production area, primarily responsible for addressing and resolving mechanical and electrical issues, predominantly caused by operator errors. Your tasks will range from simple adjustments, like fixing a misaligned knife, to complex machine disassemblies. You'll handle repairs involving photo-eyes, sensors, gears, motor boxes, vfd's, servo drives, and pumps, all operated via HMI touch screens controlled by Allen Bradley PLC's. Expect to spend your time equally between mechanical and electrical repairs, along with TIG/MIG welding on stainless steel and custom fabrication work. Your role is crucial during the start and end of the production week in the kitchen area, where most issues arise, and on Saturdays for scheduled preventive maintenance. The position also involves managing new automated equipment installations, such as packaging and shrink wrapping machines.

This is a fully on-site position in La Porte, Indiana.

Work Environment

The work environment is a food manufacturing setting. The maintenance area is not climate-controlled, unlike the production floor which is. Compliance with safety standards is a must, including wearing proper PPE like beard and hair nets and avoiding clothing with plastic buttons to prevent contamination. The facility has a candy scent. The production maintenance department includes 13 members across three shifts. Work hours are from 6 pm to 6 am on a 2 on 2 off, 3 on 3 off schedule, with initial day training for up to 6 months from 7 am to 3:30 pm.
