Position Summary
The City of La Mesa is currently accepting applications for Wastewater Maintenance Worker I/II/III in the Public Works Department to fill two (2) vacancies. The vacancies will be filled as either a I, II or III depending on qualifications.
Wastewater Maintenance Worker I – This is the entry level class in the Wastewater Maintenance Worker series. This class is distinguished from the Wastewater Maintenance Worker II by the performance of more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within the series. Assignments are generally limited in scope, contain fairly routine tasks, and are performed within a procedural framework established by higher-level employees.
Wastewater Maintenance Worker II – This is the journey level class in the Wastewater Maintenance Worker series. Employees within this class are distinguished from the Wastewater Maintenance Worker I by the performance of more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within the series. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.
Wastewater Maintenance Worker III – This is the advanced journey level classification in the Wastewater Maintenance Worker series. Positions in this class are distinguished from other levels in the series by the performance of specialized or skilled maintenance, repair and construction duties. Employees are typically assigned significant responsibilities above the journey level and often exercise independent judgment in the performance of all duties. Employees at this level are required to be fully trained in all procedures related to assigned areas of responsibility.
