Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$24.000 - $26.770 - $29.530

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.

Required Qualifications

  • California Security Guard Card - CA Bureau of Security & Investigative Services -REQUIRED

  • Driver's License - CA Department of Motor Vehicles -REQUIRED

Preferred Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent

  • College course in Criminal Justice, Sociology, and Psychology desirable.

  • Law enforcement, Military or prior security experience in a healthcare setting

Other Qualification Requirements

  • Utilizes reliable transportation and possesses adequate personal insurance coverage. Demonstrates clean driving record in accordance with requirements of the employer DMV pull notice program and Sharp HealthCare Driver Guidelines.

Essential Functions

  • Customer serviceResponds to routine calls in a timely manner.Officers will provide direction and information, problem solving, and escort services to both internal and external customers, treating each with courtesy and cooperation.When possible, officers should go out of their way to initiate brief contacts with visitors and staff to insure that their needs are being met.

  • Daily reportReports are to be made in the proper format and completed and submitted at the end of their shift.Exceptions can be made for late reports. All reports are to be neat, accurate, concise, legible, and free from spelling and grammatical errors.

  • Department policies and proceduresThis includes location of fire alarm boxes, emergency telephone numbers and other emergency procedures for situations such as Life Flight, fire, disaster, etc.

  • Parking enforcementEnforces parking regulations as required.Tickets are completed in a neat, accurate, legible manner and are free from spelling and grammatical errors.Towing situations are handled appropriately and thoroughly following departmental policy.

  • Security roundsPatrols hospital interior, and grounds, being on the alert for persons or situations that threaten life or property.Patrols in aconscientious and visible manner, varying the routine and timing.Officers when possible should make 4 6 rounds per shift of the assigned areas

  • Stat callsThe Officer's goal should be to diffuse hostile situations using interpersonal skills.Force should only be used as a last resort in emergency situations.Officers are to use good judgement.Officer safety practices and cover each other when possible.The contact and cover approach should be applied.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to utilize resources in an organized manner.

  • Basic knowledge of penal codes.

  • Effective interpersonal and customer relations skills.
