Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$34.795 - $44.897 - $54.999

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.

What You Will Do

To provide daily leadership, coordination and maintenance of safe patient mobilization and patient fall prevention activities across services and disciplines throughout the facility.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree

  • 2 Years Recent pertinent clinical expertise necessary to perform in defined clinical area

  • California Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) - CA Physical Therapy Board -REQUIRED

  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

Essential Functions

  • Achieves operational outcomesAssists with identifying mobilization related learning needs of staff.Assists in the development and implementation of employee education/training curriculum including initial, annual refresher and ongoing education and training.Demonstrates ability to problem solve complex patient mobilization needs.Monitors staff compliance with Sharp HealthCare's safe patient mobilization policy.Demonstrates competence in use of patient fall prevention techniques.Demonstrates competence in use of fall prevention devices (bed, chair alarms etc.).Monitors staff compliance with patient fall prevention procedures (alarms, tool kit, signage, socks etc.).Assists in the development and implementation of action plan(s) to improve performance of programs.Develops new area of expertise relevant to patient mobilization and fall prevention.Coordinates the process of enhancing an integrated fall prevention program, assisting in developing and implementing realistic strategies to increase patient safety by achieving sustainable reductions in patient falls.Assists in investigation of patient falls as needed.Assists in the development and implementation of Mobilization Technician training program and completion of competencies (initial, annual and new equipment) including the 2 week on-the-job training with new-hire Mobilization Techs.Assists in the evaluation/selection of new lift equipment/aids and patient fall prevention devices to meet current and future needs for the programs.

  • Daily operationsCoordinates the daily activities of the safe patient mobilization and fall prevention program throughout the facility including identification/resolution of operational issues or identification/evaluation of new areas for improvement.Under limited supervision coordinates the activities and maintenance of the safe patient mobilization and fall prevention programs.Promotes a culture of safety and zero harm throughout the facility including providing real time assistance, guidance and direction to employees.Functions as a resource for patient care staff in matters related to patient mobilization including actively participating in the selection of mobilization equipment/aids and assisting in performance of complex patient/resident mobilizations and daily operational flow.Collaborates with other disciplines/departments to resolve daily operational issues.Facilitates staff in prioritizing and problem solving daily operational issues, developing individualized patient mobilization plans for complex patient needs including bariatrics.Actively evaluates alternative ways to reduce risks associated with patient mobilizations and patient falls including evaluation of equipment and the environment and regular surveys of patient care areas.Actively mentors and coordinates the unit based Transfer Mobility Coaches.Assists with the education, training and competency assessments for Transfer Mobility Coaches in use of equipment and program elements.Coordinates and communicates remediation of equipment issues with facilities management and manufacturers. Conducts audits (environment, mobility assessments, etc.) to ensure compliance with safe practice, Sharp's Safe Patient Mobilization Policy and legislation.Conducts Stay Safe observations according to established frequencies. Provides immediate feedback to employees. Conducts audits to ensure compliance with patient fall prevention program.Monitors supply par levels (slings, sliders etc.).Monitors compliance with completion of patient mobilization assessments (SCOOT/MAT) and Communication Board.Demonstrates resolution of operational issue with targeted outcomes as negotiated with manager or director.Assists with completion of new hire patient mobilization equipment competencies.

  • Human resources managementProvides feedback to employees on safe patient mobilization techniques, use of equipment/aids, and safety and injury prevention as related to patient mobilizations.Provides feedback to employees on patient fall prevention techniques, equipment and injury prevention.Orients/mentors new Mobilization Technicians into new role resulting in achieved competencies within identified timelines. Develops staff's mobilization skills, facilitating learning and growth.Actively participates in safety/patient mobilization committees, patient fall prevention and hospital acquired pressure ulcer committees.Assists staff to resolve complex patient mobilizations and high fall risk patients. Develops strong working relationships with all levels of employees.Provide feedback to managers on mobilization technician performance (90 day and annual).

  • Operational and technical competencyCompletes all initial competencies.Demonstrates competence in safe patient mobilization techniques.Demonstrates competence in use of powered and non-powered patient mobilization equipment and aids.Demonstrates competence in criteria and use of specialty slings (turning, limb, amputee etc.).Consistently demonstrating competency as identified in the annual assessment and evaluation.Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures and regulatory and accreditation requirements.

  • Oversee productivityIdentifies and/or participates in implementation of injury prevention and equipment usage enhancing ideas.Contributes to utilization of equipment/supplies in a cost-effective manner that supports delivery of care.Develops project plan that includes program review, injury prevention, and innovative ways to facilitate practice change in support of safe patient mobilization and fall prevention.

  • Strong speaking skills, ability to effectively give presentations to groups, ability to effectively work with all levels within organization.

  • Self-directed, able to work independently with little supervision.
