Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):
$82.927 - $107.003 - $131.079
The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.
What You Will Do
Provides leadership and direction and advises Sharp HealthCare through the VP, SVP's, CEOs, and other appropriate administrators on long-range planning and leadership of Neuroscience including Joint Commission certified stroke programs. Utilizes an evidence-based approach to design innovative, and fiscally responsible strategies to grow the Sharp HealthCare Neuroscience Service Line including the strategic planning and business development. Coordinates the integration of financial, clinical and quality aspects of care. Demonstrates exemplary leadership skills in Neuroscience by being identified as an expert within both Sharp HealthCare and the community. Recommends and implements integrated neuroscience programs that provides safe, evidence-based, patient-centered, timely, efficient and equitable care and which ensures optimal patient outcomes. Facilitates the collaboration of services utilizing a multidisciplinary plan to ensure the effective and efficient consumption of available health care resources while improving quality of care for patients across the continuum. Develops collaborative relationships with medical directors, medical groups, and the community to enhance the image of Sharp HealthCare. Provide and maintain effective communications with medical staff and all levels of executives, management and staff across the continuum of care. Ensures the fulfillment of Sharp's mission, vision, values, and strategic plan. Evaluates and coordinates clinical research studies for the Neuroscience patient population in conjunction with the VP Ortho/Neuro Service and the Medical Directors.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree In Nursing, Business, or Health-Related field.
Master's Degree
5 Years Management, service line or program experience.
5 Years Extensive applicable operations experience in neurology or neurosurgical with in depth focus on stroke care and management.
7 Years Experience in health care organizations.
Preferred Qualifications
5 Years Experience in financial management and reimbursement issues.

Essential Functions
QualityPromotes system focus to develop and coordinate the monitoring of quality outcomes for the neuroscience patient population. Works with the Medical Directors to establish and implement a Sharp HealthCare system integrated stroke program with standardization of stroke protocols/guidelines, policies, procedures and power plans. Ensures Sharp HealthCare policies and procedures are kept current to reflect the national guidelines and standards of care.Ensure neuroscience power plans are current and in line with national guidelines of care.Evaluates the organization’s progress toward benchmark goals.Leads timely performance improvement activities to achieve optimal quality outcomes including the Outcome Science Stroke Registries. Provides oversight for the public reporting processes to meet the requirements of the EMS Core Measures, Joint Commission, County of San Diego, State of California and other regulatory systems.Maintains the Stroke Program Joint Commission certifications.Ensures organization compliance with legislation and regulations as they impact the assigned areas.Evaluates and develops appropriate guidelines for the neuroscience patient population.Lead system-wide response to public reporting efforts regarding applicable core measures.Provide leadership and liaison with entity-based Medical Directors.Ensure the provision of education, and reporting of program metrics to the appropriate individuals and/or departments of Sharp HealthCare, including the Board, leadership, and staff.
Staff Education and DevelopmentIdentifies educational needs of both staff and physicians, develops and implements a system-wide educational plan for stroke programs and all other appropriate neuroscience populations.Provides ongoing constructive feedback, teaching, training, and support to all stroke service line staff, nursing staff, and managers.Collaborates with the stroke coordinators and hospital leaders to develop an educational plan that increases staff compliance and engagement on all applicable metrics.Ensures appropriate competency and orientation is provided to new staff as well as the medical staff.
CommunityContributes to Sharp HealthCare’s organizational vision, mission, and values related to being a San Diego Community partner and increasing the visibility of Sharp HealthCare in the community.Represents Sharp HealthCare at and is an active participant at the San Diego County Stroke Consortium.Develops programs that address the community healthcare needs for the neuroscience field.Develops and coordinates community education programs with the Sharp HealthCare Marketing Department.Demonstrates involvement and participation in professional organizations.Recognizes opportunities for community partnership and initiates evaluation of benefits, cost and desired outcomes.
GrowthPlans, directs, assesses, implements, evaluates and coordinates the development of and implementation of programs consistent with the mission of Sharp HealthCare. Responsible for the strategic planning, statistical reporting, business development, marketing growth, and budgetary development for the neuroscience service line within Sharp HealthCare.Evaluates new program opportunities for service line revenue enhancement.Creates clinical and service excellence in the delivery of multidisciplinary neuroscience care across the continuum of care to include pre hospital, inpatient and post-acute services.
FinanceIdentifies and initiates opportunities for improvement in the financial performance of the neuroscience service line programs.Ensure efficient, economic, and high quality performance of assigned areas of responsibility to support or provide safe and high quality health care services.Accountable for service line financial goals.Collaborates with the Sharp HealthCare Supply Chain to evaluate and negotiate implant contracts as well as other neuroscience related equipment and technology needs. Coordinates the appropriate use of resources for service line development throughout the system. Collaborates with Sharp HealthCare Foundation to identify philanthropy opportunities to support the service line.

Professional with demonstrated ability to facilitate and or lead large diverse, multidisciplinary teams, history of successful change implementation, demonstrated strong interpersonal communications skills, and ability to interact productively with varying levels of personnel and staff.
